Andy F. Brown
Student Success Coordinator
Mr. Brown has more than three decades of public education experience as both an elementary classroom teacher and administrator. He has served the district seven years as the high school principal before being appointed Assistant Superintendent in 2018. Mr. Brown has a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Oswego, master’s degree in education from SUNY Cortland, a Certificate of Advance Study from SUNY Cortland and a Certificate of Completion of the Superintendent Development Program from SUNY Oswego.
Dr. Laura Rouse
Director of Curriculum
Dr. Rouse has over 20 years of experience in public education. Her work included serving as a French teacher and the World Languages Teacher Leader at the secondary level prior to serving as the elementary assistant principal, district instructional specialist and instructional coach. Currently, Dr. Rouse serves as the Director of Curriculum PK-12 and assists with the development and implementation of various curriculum initiatives, including the Next Generation Learning Standards, professional development, and APPR coaching/observations. She also supports building leaders with related tasks, such as the New Teacher Induction Program, instructional technology curriculum, homeless youth, English language learners, migrant education and data analysis.
Dr. Rouse received her Master of Science in Education degree, with a specialty area in Secondary Curriculum and Instruction, from SUNY Oswego, her Certificate of Advanced Study Degree in Educational Leadership from Syracuse University, and her doctoral degree in the Educational Leadership Program at Syracuse University.
Secretary to Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment
Mrs. Froass came to the VVS School District in July 2017. She is currently secretary to Mr. Brown and the District Data Coordinator. She has twelve years of experience in public education working as a library clerk, guidance secretary and data coordinator, not to mention the many years as a parent volunteer. She received an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from SUNY Canton.
Internal Auditor/Testing Clerk
Mrs. Bush has been an employee of the district for over 20 years. Mrs. Bush attended the VVS School District and raised four daughters who also attended the VVS school District. During her time working with the district, she has held various positions. Her current position is the Internal Auditor/Testing Clerk. This position provides clerical support to the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment, in matters relating to district testing, data, and technology.
This includes training staff on assessment programs, providing support for NYS 3-8 testing, verifying and reporting all information and updates to the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment, compiling various testing data and preparing required reports for distribution.
Mrs. Bush works closely with principals, teacher leaders, and teachers to ensure that the district assessment programs are running efficiently.
VVS Technology Integration Coordinator, MORIC Instructional Computing Specialist, INTEL Master Teacher
Kathy has over 4 decades of public education and technology experience, based in the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill CSD. Kathy holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Education and a Master of Science in Library Science from Syracuse University. She started her teaching career as library media specialist at the W. A. Wettel Elementary School. When she retired from active teaching in 2008, she was LMS in the VVS High School, as well as Teacher Leader for the Library Department and Model Schools Site Administrator for VVS. Kathy continued part time as Instructional Integration Coordinator for the VVS district, and is currently working as an Instructional Computing Specialist for the Mohawk Regional Information Center, and assists in coordinating / offering professional development opportunities for the VVS faculty and staff as well as managing the VVS website.
