Mrs. Linda Carter

Instrument: Flute

Linda Carter is the teacher leader of the VVS Music Department. Mrs. Carter teaches high school and middle school band, instrumental music lesoons, as well as Music Theory at the high school level. Mrs. Carter is the director of Trash Can Band, Pep Band, and other small ensmbles at the high school. She also directs the Pit Orchestra for the High School Musical. Mrs. Carter has spent her entire teaching career here at VVS. She has 3 children and one dog. For fun, she plays her flute in a woodwind quintet and a wind ensemble. She loves to spend time with her family, to hike and to cook!

Ms. Jane Beck

Instrument: Voice

MS. Beck is the Middle and High School Choral Director. She taught K-12 vocal and instrumental at the Whitesboro Central School district for 36 years and retired in 2016. Jane has a gift and love for teaching, passing on her passion for music to her students in a way that motivates them. She continues her work for the Crane School of Music as a member of the Alumni Board and plays piano for musicals in many of the local school districts. In her retirement days, she has enjoyed traveling, riding motorcycles and enjoying life. Ms. Beck is very excited to work with the VVS students and hope that all students will somehow be involved with the music department

Mrs. Annie DeSalvatore

Instrument: Flute

Annie DeSalvatore teaches music at E.A. McAllister Elementary School in Sherrill. Mrs. DeSalvatore teaches PreK-6 General Music, 3/4 Chorus, 5/6 Chorus, Cadet (Grade 4) Band and Concert (5/6) Band. Mrs. DeSalvatore also teaches Jazz Band at McAllister. Mrs. DeSalvatore grew up in Sherrill, and is a proud 2009 VVS graduate! In 2013, she graduated from Nazareth College in Rochester, and from Boston University in 2015. Her primary instrument which she grew up playing is flute, though she has learned and can play every instrument. While her first two years of teaching consisted of K-4 General Music and chorus in Rome, she considers herself a band specialist. Her passion is teaching at the elementary level, and setting up the foundations for young instrumentalists to continue on in Middle School and High School. Mrs. DeSalvatore loved her time as a student at VVS, and feels honored to be back here teaching future generations!

Mr. Dominick DeSalvatore

Instrument: Trumpet

Dominick DeSalvatore teaches Middle School Band, as well as PreK-K General Music at J.D. George Elementary, as well as Cadet Band and Concert Band at E.A. McAllister Elementary. Mr. DeSalvatore is the Middl School Drama Club Director, as well as the HS/MS Jazz Band Director, and Assistant Pep Band and Marching Band Director. Mr. DeSalvatore first started teaching at Syracuse City School District and remained there for two years. He was then given the opportunity to start teaching at VVS! Some of his hobbies include woodworking or general construction, science fiction novels and movies, Harry Potter and the Wizarding World, and of course, everything music! His primary instrument is the trumpet and his favorite type of music to play is Jazz. Mr. DeSalvatore's favorite type of music to sing is Musical Theater. Mr. DeSalvatore happily married to Mrs. Anne DeSalvatore who is also a teacher at VVS (Sherrill Elementary) and is a VVS alum. Mr. and Mrs. DeSalvatore have a dog named Bella. She is a goofball and they love her for it!

Mrs. Eileen Hubbard

Instrument: Flute

Eileen Hubbard teaches MVCC Music Appreciation, Entertainment industries, and Middle School General Music. She also is the Auditorium Manager, runs the High School Aud. Tech. Club, and runs a comic book club, with Mrs. Laramie called "Capes and Cowls." Mrs. Hubbard is a member of the 1985 graduating class from VVS. Outside of school, she is an adjunct professor at Mohawk Valley Community College where she teaches Music Appreciation.

Mr. Bill McCoy

Instrument: Percussion

William McCoy is the band teacher at both W.A. Wettel Elementary in Vernon, and J.D. George Elementary School in Verona. He teaches Cadet Band and Concert Band. Mr. McCoy is the NYSSMA Zone 4 Representative, as well as the VVSTA President. Mr. McCoy has been a music teacher at VVS since 1996. He received his Associates in Music at Onondaga Community College, Bachelors in Music Education and Masters of Science in reading at SUNY Cortland. He teaches private instrumental lessons and performs locally as a percussionist.

Megan Tompkins teaches Beginner and Symphonette Orchestra at Vernon, Verona, and Sherrill Elementary Schools. Miss Tompkins also teaches Kindergarten and 5th Grade General Music at J.D. George Elementary School in Verona. Miss Tompkins runs the Wettel and McAllister Drama Clubs in conjunction with Mrs. Tomaino. Miss Tompkins has been teaching for a few years now and has realized that elementary school is the place to be! She can still remember the day she was in fourth grade and got the chance to play the VIOLA! It is her goal to bring that same excitement she felt to all students at VVS.

Mrs. Kristen Tomaino

Instrument: Voice

Kristen Tomaino, originally from Long Island, NY, teaches at Wettel Elementary and McAllister Elementary. She works with students in PreK- 6th grade. In the past, Mrs. Tomaino has taught in school districts all over New York state working with students in grades PreK-12th grade. Mrs. Tomaino enjoys singing, playing the ukulele, and traveling.  She loves being a part of the VVS school district!
