    I believe that teachers, therapists, students, and parents should work together to create a learning environment that helps children succeed both in school and in the community.


    My Philosophy of Grading

    Students at VVS should receive marking period grades according to grade/instructional level, teacher grading policy and New York State Standards.  Students receiving speech therapy or speech improvement services do not receive a grade.  Speech therapy is a supportive service that assists students with disabilities to improve their educational experiences.  Speech therapy services address students' annual goals, developed from a team approach using evaluation data (including present level of performance), clinical observations and in consideration of the educational requirements of each student's academic program. Students who receive speech improvement services are considered to be part of the general education program, but also work on individual goals to help them be more successful within their school environments.  Students who receive services are continuously assessed on their goals and a written narrative is provided on their progress each quarter.
