Hello! I am the AIS Math provider for Grades 1 and 2. I am here to assist if your child has trouble with work or to answer any questions. You are welcome to email me at email@example.com at any time.
Here are a few ways to practice math at home:
Board and Card Games: Play any board games you have with your family: Yahtzee, Trouble, Connect Four, Life, Monopoly, Aggravation, CandyLand, Go fish!, Old Maid, Rummy, Make 10
Money Scoop: Grab a handful of coins: identify the coins and find the total.
Tell Time: Use an analog clock (with hands) to practice telling time. What time you get up, eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, go to bed, take a walk or watch TV. How long do you spend on each activity? Even make a chart every day to keep track.
Measure objects: Use a ruler, yardstick, or tape measure to measure objects around your house. Estimate the length first then measure for accuracy to the nearest inch or half inch.
Here are a few of my favorite online learning resources for math:
BrainPopJr has kid friendly videos that explain several math concepts. There are also online quizzes and activities to practice and check for understanding. https://jr.brainpop.com/math/ Username: jdgeorge Password: info4u
Freckle Math is for second grade and is available through the VVS student dashboard. This program tracks student progress for each math standard.
