• English 11 Course Expectations

    This course is the third in a series of four to fulfill the English requirement for a graduating student.

     

    CLASS EXPECTATIONS ARE SET HIGH!!!!!!

     

    Literature Studied:        

    • A historical perspective of American literature

    • Several novels read in class—as a class

    • Two-Three novels of the student’s choice with related project

    • Poetry

       

      Mechanics:

    • Grammar

    • Research Paper

    • Writing (Creative, Technical, Journals, Essays)

    • Class Projects

    • Vocabulary

    • Homework

       

      Grading: Homework, tests, quizzes, essays, class participation, projects, journals, presentations, Effective Communicator—everything handed in counts for a grade. Cheating, either given or received, will not be tolerated and will result in a grade of a zero!!

       

      Materials: Based on the teacher’s requirements you may need a 3ring binder, folder, loose-leaf paper, notebook, journal, etc… Your teacher will let you know on day one of class.

       

      Absences: It is your responsibility to get any missed work from the teacher and you have one day for every day you were absent to complete the assignment. Each teacher posts assignments on the board in the classroom ahead of time. Plan accordingly. 

       

      Conduct: Be on time! Come Prepared for class! Always be courteous & respectful!

       

      Extra Help: Available during my free periods by appointment & every day from 2:30-3:00. 

       

      EXTRA CREDIT WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE—complete your work and it will not be necessary.
