I use various ways to assess student achievement: tests, quizzes, projects along with classwork/homework comprised of outlines, graphic organizers, non-linguistic representations and more. Furthermore, we do expansive work with DBQ’s and take multiple practice exams complimented with test strategies and techniques. Student grades are calculated based on the assessments highlighted above. Tests weigh 60% of the student’s average, quizzes are worth 25%, while classwork accounts for 15%. An example of this calculation follows:
80% on Test
75% on Quiz
100% on Homework/Classwork
Take 80% and multiple by .6, take 75% and multiply by .25, and take 100% and multiply by .15. Take each number and add them together. In this scenario, student A would have an average of 82%.
